In Maths we are using Power Maths in Y5 and Y6. Mr Moore teaches the Y5 and Mrs Tomlinson/ Mrs Anderson the Y6. We will be supplementing the work using the White Rose Scheme. Children will still consolidate objectives taught last year and the learning will be extended with age appropriate objectives.

Y5 will learn about fractions, decimals and percentages.

Y6 will be learning area, perimeter and volume. Then ratio & proportion, including scale and finally properties of shape.

ALL Y6 CHILDREN ARE INVITED TO MATHS BOOSTER CLASSES AFTER SCHOOL ON THURSDAYS TO PREPARE THEMSELVES FOR SATS.

In English, we teach reading and writing across a range of genres. This term these will include reading and writing quest stories in chapters. This will be followed by newspaper reports.

Writing will continue to link to topic work, including Geography, PSCHE and Science.

Grammar is taught as an integral part of English sessions. Spellings are taught on Monday, practised during the week and are tested on Friday.

Times Tables Olympics will continue in school and will be completed weekly. It is vital the children continue to learn their tables. Don't forget that there are games that they can play at home using Education City and Times Table Rock Stars. The children have individual log-ins.
