Job Vacancy

Gaspar and Rossi need a new member of their team. Help them write a job advert to attract a new team member. Remember to use adjectives to show what type of person they want.

Look through the PowerPoint that sets up the task.

There are also some templates to help with setting out your work. You don’t have to use these though.

Gaspar and Rossi’s Next Adventure

What could Gaspar and Rossi get up to next? Does the same thing happen and this time they meet different animals? Do they get lost in a snow storm and need help to find their way back? Do the brave explorers go in search of a lost friend, treasure or food?

Come up with another story about Gaspar and Rossi.

History

Read about Robert Falcon Scott a real life Antarctic explorer on the PowerPoint.

Imagine you are him and write one of his diary entries whilst he was on his expedition. Think about how he would be feeling, who he would be missing, does he believe that he will make it?

History

Read about another real life Antarctic explorer using the PowerPoint. Think about the differences between explorers now and then. Did they have machines? Batteries? Computers to help them find their way?

Complete the Antarctic explorers activity where you need to think about what you would pack for your expedition.

There is a template if you want to use it. We won’t be in school; we will be setting it out ourselves in our book.

Art/ Craft

I have put some ideas together for penguin craft ideas (I really like the no sew penguins on the last page). Have a go at making some sort of penguin craft. You could copy the ideas I have given or research your own. Think about what you have available at home before you decide. Magazines, junk mail, TV guides, food packaging, old clothes are all good sources of craft materials. We are going to make sock penguins in school.

Remember to send pictures or post them yourself on the blog.

 PE – Golf

We enjoyed playing this so much last week that we are going to play again. This week we are going to use tennis rackets and balls instead.

At home you could set up thing to hit or knock over with a ball, try setting up obstacles that you need to get the ball over, under or through or just have a kick about. Failing that just be active in your own way, play on a bike, scooter or whatever you feel like.

Science – Melting Ice

What do you think is the quickest way to melt an ice cube? Decide what things you will use. Decide how you will carry out your experiment.

I have included a template to give you some ideas.

You don’t need to use it but can if you want to.
