Making a picture map of Whitwell and 'The Billy Goat's Gruff'
We worked together to make a map of Whitwell.
We used different colours and materials for the grass, road, railway track and fields.
The children decided to make houses with the rectangular blocks and we drew windows and doors on them.
In the afternoon we read the story of 'The Billy Goat's Gruff'.
The children used the puppets from the story to act out the story on the map. They really liked the bridge and told each other different parts of the story with lots of complex sentences.
The children particularly enjoyed changing their voice into a deep voice like the troll.
