The year 1 Maths curriculum is detailed below. There are many ways to support your child with their Maths learning at home, and out and about. Simple activities such as spotting numbers in the environment, talking about the shapes of objects when out shopping and discussing time and distance when on a journey can all help.
Term 1
Numbers to 10
Looking at sorting objects, counting forward and back from 0-10, finding one more and one less than any number to 10, and comparing groups and numbers to 10.
Part-whole within 10
Learning what a part-whole model is and how it is used, finding number bonds and related facts, and comparing number bonds.
Addition and subtraction within 10
Finding the whole and parts within a number bond, finding and solving number bonds, and solving word problems.
