We teach our children Phonics using a scheme called Read Write Inc. This scheme introduces the pure sounds, helps children to learn to blend and segment words in to sounds, spell words and read for meaning and enjoyment.

All children are given a reading book to take home when they are ready. The first books we use are 'talk about' book, which means children to tell their own story. They should be encouraged to use story language and expression when telling their story. The next books they have will be to help them practise their phonic knowledge. Reminding the children to segment and blend the sounds to read new words.
