Maths

In mathematics the children will be following the Power Maths scheme. Miss Webster continues to teach the Year 3 children for mathematics and Miss White will teach the Year 4 children for mathematics.

In Year 4 we will focus on multiplication and division for our first topic this term. The children will learn to multiply a two-digit number by a one-digit number and multiply a three-digit number by a one-digit number. The children will learn to divide a two-digit number by a one-digit number and a three-digit number by a one-digit number. The children will answer problem solving questions involving multiplication and division.

The children's next topic will be area. The children will calculate the area of different shapes by counting squares.

Their final topic for this term will be fractions which will continue in Spring term 2. The children will recognise and show common equivalent fractions and count up and down in tenths and hundredths.
