Year 5 English Collins Targeted Practice Workbook

P32 & 33

Limericks – Use the example text as a basis and then try to write 3 of your own.

 

You must follow the 5 line structure with lines 1,2 and 5 rhyming plus line 3 & 4.

 

Can you find any online that you enjoy reading?

Kennings poems

 

Follow the example and try to write your own Kenning for one of the animals in science. Eg a Frog.

Plan this in rough then write/type this up in best and illustrate

 

Remember to use pairs of words & hyphens and don’t say what the animal is.

Aim for 15 lines.

Rationing – Finish your Food Diary and your World War Diary

Make a menu of World War Two meals and decorate.

 

Science

Metamorphosis – Can you say this word? Or spell it?

 

Read the powerpoint and complete the lifecycles of amphibians and insects

Find 3 similarities and 3 differences between the two cycles.

Ext: Draw stages of an animal that undergoes metamorphosis

Read ‘The Very Hungry Caterpillar’

 

 

Make a symmetrical ‘butterfly picture’ on A4 sized paper.

You could use felt-tips of even paint.
