In Maths we are using Power Maths in Y5 and Y6. In our bubble Mr Moore teaches the Y5 and Mrs Tomlinson the Y6. We will be supplementing the work using the White Rose Scheme. Children will still consolidate objectives taught last year and the learning will be extended with age appropriate objectives.
Y5 will be learning about decimals and then Geometry finishing off by learning about measures.
Y6 will be learning about ratio and proportion and statistics.
Times Tables Olympics will continue in school and will be completed weekly. It is vital the children continue to learn their tables. Don't forget that there are games that they can play at home using Education City and Times Table Rock Stars. The children have individual log-ins.
In English, we teach reading and writing across a range of genres. This term these will include reading and writing legends and some additional work on poetry
Assessments will be held later on in the term.
Writing will continue to link to topic work, including History, PSCHE and Science.
Grammar is taught as an integral part of English sessions. Spellings are taught on Monday, practised during the week and are tested on Friday.
