Numbers

We are learning how to count, recognise and understand the concept of numbers to 5. We are finding different ways of making up to 5 by collecting different items, counting things by touching them one at a time and looking at groups of 4 and 5 and seeing if we can say how many there are without counting them.

You can help your child by looking for numbers that are all around us (door numbers, prices in the supermarket, car number plates etc. and by counting everything!).

Shape, Space and Measure

This term we are looking at some 2d shapes - circle, square, oblong and triangle. We are counting the sides and corners and spotting the shapes that are all around us.

You can help by looking for shapes within the environment.

We get better at maths by using a range of practical activities and lots and lots of practise!
