Numbers

We are learning how to count, recognise and understand the concept of numbers to 20. We are learning how to count forwards and backwards and to say which number is one more or one less than a given number. We will be investigating how to halve and double numbers.

You can help your child by looking for numbers that are all around us (door numbers, prices in the supermarket, car number plates etc. and by counting everything!).

Shape, Space and Measure

This term we are looking at creating patterns, investigating money and what we can use it for and doing some simple capacity.

You can help by  looking for patterns that are around us (e.g. wrapping paper, on clothes and animal prints), looking for shapes within the environment (food packaging, boxes, furniture etc.) and by using the language of full, half full and empty.

We get better at maths by using a range of practical activities and lots and lots of practise!
