Maths

The children will be following the Power Maths scheme. Miss Webster will be teaching the Year 4 children maths and Mrs Plaister/Mrs Watts and Miss White will be teaching the Year 3 children maths.

Year 3

The children will learn about how to use scales and measure and compare mass in grams and kilograms. They will then learn about how to measure capacity in litres and mililitres. The children will compare capacity and volume and add and subtract capacity and volume. They will add and subtract fractions and find fractions of a set of objects and amounts.

Year 4

The children will learn about decimals. They will learn to divide 1 and 2 digit numbers by 10 and 100. They will learn to represent tenths in different ways. The children will learn how to partition decimals and compare and order decimals. They will identify halves and quarters as decimals. Then the children will move onto money. They will write money using decimals and calculate and solve problems with money.

Multiplication Check

The Year 4 children will complete a times table test in June 2023. The test will test all of the children's times tables up to the 12 times table. There will be 25 random multiplication questions that the children will have 6 seconds to answer. The children are aiming to get all 25 correct. We will be helping the children to achieve this at school but any additional help and support with improving your child's times tables at home would be extremely beneficial. Times Table Rockstars is a really useful website to support times table practise and the website link to this is below.
