Manic Monday
We departed Whitwell in high spirits, with songs of 'Wheels on the Bus' and 'Barbie Girl' ringing around the coach. We stopped at what was assumed to be Meadowhall by some, but later turned out to be motorway services just outside of Northampton.
After an almost sick free journey and a number of motorway roadworks, we arrived in Portsmouth at just after 2.00pm. With great excitment and anticipation, we boarded the ferry and set sail in the glorious sunshine. A short coach ride later and we arrived at our luxury accommodation and found our rooms to unpack.
We had a delicious 3 course meal and headed to the beach to wade in the water - some of us really put the water proof label on our hiking boats to the test. We played games of cricket, football and boules and enjoyed the last of the sunshine before the day ended.
With chattering teeth and sandy toes we returned to the hotel for warm showers, dry cloths and games of 'Knock'a'door Run'. We settled down for - what I hope will be - a relaxing, calm and not at all late night.
A fantastic first day was had by all and we can't wait for tomorrow's adventures!
Speak to you tomorrow!
