Day 4

Day 4

Getting up in the morning is getting a little harder every day. They are loving their beauty sleep! It doesn’t bode well for the early start tomorrow, with a 9:00am ferry!

Breakfast, as usual, was well received, and after eating our fill we headed over to Pirates Cove. We played 18 holes with scores of 32 and 34 as some of the highlights. Now, you may be thinking we have the next Rory McIlroy in our midst – however, on further inspection of the scorecard, that was on one hole! Still, at least they saw all the course and got their money’s worth!

After the golf, we had some ice creams and refreshments and took a stroll along the promenade. The sea breeze was lovely. We walked up Shanklin Chine to the sweet shop at the top. I’m not sure we needed any more sweets, but they certainly wanted them! If we measure good holidays in blue tongues, we had the best time ever!

The highlight of the day was Blackgang Chine, which is the largest theme park on the island. We had a fantastic time! There were all sorts of rides to go on and attractions to see. The hit for the children was a ride called Extinction, which is a spinning, looping, twisting ride that seems designed to give you motion sickness! I would have gone on with the children, but I couldn’t because I was the designated photographer – I wasn’t scared, I promise…

When we finished our tea, we headed to the beach for one last paddle in the sea. As I write this, the children are packed, in bed, and fast asleep. I’m sure that most are excited to see you all again and sleep in their own beds.

P.S. We’ll keep you posted tomorrow about our progress on our homeward journey.
