Day 4

Day 4 – Come Rain or Shine!

Another day and another lie in after another late night.  We had another delicious breakfast this morning – the food and service has been fantastic.  I’m not sure how we will cope not being waited on, hand and foot.

The weather forecast was not great. It started to spit by the time we started mini-golf, and by the end the rain came thick and fast.  Our clothes were soaked, but nothing could dampen our spirits – though it came close…  We walked up the cliff-side to an amazing sweet shop which had every kind of confectionery you could imagine and many you couldn’t.  For example, I could never have imagined a squidgy, plastic container containing an extremely large dill pickle in pickle juice, yet one of our children paid money for one.  Each to their own, I guess!

The rain stopped, the sun came out, and our clothes dried; our spirits lifted.  We ate lunch on the bus and arrived at Blackgang Chine – the UK's oldest theme park.  The children absolutely loved it.  There were all sorts of rides and attractions for the children to enjoy.  They lived their best life and were a credit to the school.  Teachers from other schools took the time to comment on how well they behaved.

After tea of fish fingers and chips, the children packed what they could in their suitcases, and we headed to the beach.  We played on the sand and had an amazing final night of our very special holiday.  The children have been fantastic, and a pleasure to take away.  I am acutely aware however, as I write this at 10.55 pm - with the sounds and banging and chatting coming from most bedrooms - getting up at 6.30 am tomorrow morning is going to be tricky!  Wish us luck, we will need it!
