Summer Term Two

Science

In Science this term in Year One we will be learning about plants. We will start by identifying and naming wild and garden flowers in our school environment. We will look at naming the parts of different plants and finding out what job they all do. We will be looking at similarities and differences in types of plants.

    

In Year Two we will be learning about what healthy plants need in order to survive. This will involve an investigation using healthy plants and providing them with different environments in order to see which will thrive. This follows on from our work in the spring term looking at seeds and growth.

  

Geography

In geography, Year One will be learning about their school environment and the human and physical features around them. We will be making maps and plans of the school grounds and follow directions to make simple routes around school using our own maps as a guide.

For Year Two, we are learning about and naming some of the hot and cold places around the world and looking at how animals and people have adapted to living in these places.

  

DT

Our DT this term is vehicles. We will be looking at a range of vehicles and their uses, finding out how to make our own and then designing, making and evaluating the finished product.
