THE SCHOOL ENVIRONMENT
Whitwell Primary School opened its doors on September 1st 1984 after the amalgamation of two separate schools; Whitwell Infant School and Whitwell Junior School (now the village library and community centre). The Nursery opened in November 1988 making the school able to cater for children from 3 to 11 years.
There are at present 257 children in school and the maximum number of children that could be admitted in a school year is 50 children.
Currently the children are organised into two Foundation classes (Nursery and Reception), two Key Stage 1 classes (Years 1 and 2), and four Key Stage 2 classes.
